Special project, 51st Venice Biennale of Art (2005), Island of San Lazzaro degli Armeni, Venice
Curated and commissioned by T-BA21, Thyssen-Bornemisza Art Contemporary Foundation
Local Technical Coordination
Your black horizon is a room-sized installation comprising a thin horizontal line of light that emerges at eye level from a narrow gap in the black walls. The light changed colour every fifteen minutes, following a full daily cycle of Reykjaviks local sky’s colours.
Commissioned by Thyssen-Bornemisza Art Contemporary, Your black horizon is housed in a pavilion designed by the architect David Adjaye. The pavilion was realized on the island of San Lazzaro degli Armeni in Venice, Italy, in 2005, and moved to the Croatian island of Lopud in 2007.
